Most people have some level of sensitivity to urushiol, the oil that can be found on poison ivy. You can use a poison ivy diet as a poison ivy treatment:
* Vitamin C taken daily with bioflavonoids will prevent infection, rapid spreading of the rash and heal inflammation.
* Calcium and Beta-carotene helps to boost the immune system and speeds up healing.
* Victim must take zinc as it helps to repair damaged skin tissues.
* Take goldenseal, a root that is native to North America which has been used for centuries in herbal medicine.
If new areas of rash appear after 3 days, you are probably getting re-exposed to the plant oils, most likely from contaminated clothing, tools, or even your cat or dog (their fur protects them but can harbor the oil for a prolonged period of time).
